March comes in like a lion...

Over 6 inches of snow fell today covering all road surfaces  making driving difficult at best. Even with the snow covered roads the 54 crew only had two calls to go to today, one of which was an MVA in our local on Rt. 452. Upon arrival we found the occupant of the car out of the vehicle and suffering from mild pain from the air bag and seat belts.

The crew spent the rest of the day doing their daily tasks around the station as well as cooking dinner for themselves. Over the past two nights the crew got to find out which of our lieutenants was the better cook, with 54-13(Tully) cooking for the crew last night and 54-13a(Bourgeois) cooking dinner tonight.

Getting ready for the storm
Sunday, March 1, 2009

The crew at Lenni spent the day today on a cover assignment to 52(Brookhaven) for the second time this week, and getting ready for the snow storm tonight with up to 12"  of the white stuff expected. With this much snow call volume is expected to go up and a crew will be staffing the station for the night. Try your best to not drive on the roads until they are clear so you can avoid becoming a call tonight.

At around 6:45pm, Company 69(Lima), Squad 54, and Medic 104-7(RMH EMS) were dispatched to the 100 block of Yearsley Mill road for the accident. Squad 54 landed first and reported 1 vehicle into a tree involving a deer. There were no injuries and crews secured the vehicle. Shortly after returning, the accident assignment was hit out again for the unit block of South New Middletown Road involving a deer. 69-2 and Squad 54 arrived to find a 3 vehicle crash with a deer trapped under the vehicle. It was determined that the deer had expired and crews focused on securing the vehicle. There were also no injuries.
