TOWER 54 EXTINGUISHED RESCUE 54
Tuesday, May 27, 2008
-
Late this evening, the companies were dispatched to Route 1 Southbound out front of PSP Barracks for an accident. First arriving crews arrived to find a 2 vehicle MVA with no injuries and canceled the assignment. While retuning, Rescue 54 pulled into the Franklin Mint parking lot and caught fire. Crews radioed for assistance and Tower 54(Goshen Chester County) and Verga Fire Department(West Deptford Township New Jersey) arrived and quickly extinguished the fire. Crews from multiple fire companies assisted in taking the equipment off of Rescue 54. We would like to thank Goshen Fire Company (more for loaning us a truck to use than for putting the fire out), Verga Fire Company for assisting with extinguishment, Lima & Marcus Hook Trainer for helping out at the scene, Middletown Councilman Norm Shropshire, Dean Keyes, Bill Cairns, all the 54 people especially 9A ans 9B, and the Fire Police. Also, for 70 and 56 covering us while we got ourselves back in order. We aren't sure of the extent of the damage, but will continue service due to the generosity of Goshen Fire Company and the diligence of the people in Middletown Township.

About an hour later, the same assignment was hit for Route 1 Northbound at the curve for an accident with entrapment and rollover. First arriving units gave the report of a single vehicle on its roof with no entrapment. Rescue 54 arrived and assisted the medics with patient care and securing vehicle hazards. Crews operated for 20 minutes. An hour and a half after companies returned, the accident assignment was hit for Route 1 Northbound at the curve again. That accident was unfounded.
